A creative visual interpretation of a powerfully themed song.
Buju has been in the news for all the right reasons in 2021. From gracing two chart-topping songs with Ladipoe and Blaqbonez to his own “Outside”, it has been nonstop high after high for the budding star taking him to levels he had not quite reached before even though it was expected of him based on the evident talent he possesses. On “Outside”, it is clear that Buju has found himself and is ready to take on the world. As he stated before his acoustic performance with Glitch Africa, “For a while, I felt very trapped, creatively...I have finally found my standing and my spot, so I am very comfortable where I am.”
This new mindset is an apparent influence on the creative direction of the colorful music video for “Outside.” Asides from detailing his growth through various stages in life, as evidenced by the different set choices and locations, the video is also a homage to Lagos – city held him and saw him grow into the star he is today. Directed by TG Omori, the video employs interesting and sometimes audacious props such as a wheelchair and patients in a psychiatric hospital and is a creative interpretation of a powerfully themed song.
