Global Citizen Festival 2022
2022 marks the 10th year anniversary of the Global Citizen Festival.

2022 marks the 10th year anniversary of the Global Citizen Festival. Founded by Hugh Evans and Ryan Gall, the mission of the GCF is to end extreme poverty in the world. Their operations tie closely with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which is a set of 17 interconnected worldwide goals for human prosperity. Unlike other years when the event is held solely at Central Park, New York City — 2022 holds a double barrel celebration in store, with the event coming to Accra, Ghana.
The essence of the GCF is rooted in charity. One remarkable thing about the festival is its method of distributing tickets to its audience. By taking “action” on their website, you stand a chance to win a free ticket to the event. In fact, in 2017, TIME Magazine recorded 1.6 million actions, which in turn led to pledges of up to $3.2 billion for sustainable development that affected 221 million lives.
Its latest edition sees a host of amazing artists grace the stage across two continents. The New York leg of the event will still hold at Central Park on the 24th of September 2022. An event that boasts a lineup of Mariah Carey, Charlie Puth, Metallica, and Rosalia is sure to excite most audiences. Other acts like the Jonas Brothers will also make an appearance.
On the shores of our continent, the lineup is just as strong. Gyakie, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie will grace the stage at the Black Star Square on 24th September 2022. They will be joined by our very own Tems, as well as South Africa’s Uncle Waffles. Going through Usher’s discography will be fun that day should be fun, as he is headlining the show on Saturday.
