Novvo’s “Program” Is An Infectious Riddim

Novvo shows promising signs on his debut single.

A first impression matters more than we like to admit. It sets the tone for our perception of a person, or in this case, an artist. Nothing pulls an audience faster than a magnetic introduction.

Novvo was raised in Ilesha, Osun State. Just like many superstar artists before him, he attended Obafemi Awolowo University, studying Law. He decided to make a shift and take music more seriously. Since then he has taken his time, perfecting his craft as an artist in collaboration with Bridges Entertainment.

Speaking on his first single, the singer says, “This song is significant to me because it’s the start of my journey as an artist after months of working to become the musician I want to be. I’ve learned much about myself from the process and unlocked a new plane of capability. I hope “Programresonates with people as it reflects my journey and everything in between.`

Novvo is banking on making a good first impression with “Program”. The infectious single toes the line of many songs before it, with Novvo infusing Yoruba lyrics over familiar Amapiano drum patterns. You can hardly go wrong with that bounce, and Novvo’s vocals accentuate the record’s upbeat nature. The saxophone does a great job to give the record a necessary embellishment, heightening its musical value.

For a first attempt, Novvo shows promising signs. He is able to weave his own patterns on the record and seems to feel at home on upbeat production such as this. In a genre where a lot of people sound the same, it would be interesting to find out what Novvo does to make himself stand out. We are ready to see how it all unfolds.
