Press Play: New Music From Runtown, Wurld, Alpha P and more.

Your weekly dose of the best new sounds on the continent!

"If" - Boy Ocean ft. Alpha P

Before pressing play on this song, I didn’t know what to expect. Luckily, I was left pleasantly surprised. Alpha P and Boy Ocean link up to create a short, but interesting record. The bounce is contagious, and they both slither along the record’s bassline smoothly.

"Judah Lion" - Suté Iwar ft. Wurld

Having two artists who can create sensual records mostly turns out to be a treat. Sute taps up Wurld for this sweetly sung record, titled “Judah Lion”. Together they croon over the record’s drowsy production, creating something that will be the soundtrack to several intimate kickbacks.

"Live My Life" - Backroad Gee, Terry Apala, Rexxie

This is an interesting collaboration. Not because of Terry Apala or Rexxie, but because of BackRoad Gee. It’s even more interesting that the record sounds like a KPK remake. That doesn’t mean the song isn’t good though.

"Y I Want U" - Somadina

Somadina’s transition in her artistry has been interesting to witness. Starting out as an R&B artist, she has morphed into different shades of that, finding herself in creative environments. Her new single, “Y I Want U”, sees her take her sound towards the Garage genre, a la PinkPantheress. The most important part is she pulled it off nicely.

"Things I Know" - Runtown

Runtown continues to tease his new album. While we wait for that, he’s released a new record, “Things I Know” which sees him toe a similar line to his tropical sound. Runtown has a knack for crafting smooth records with good replay value. The case is the same on this.
