The Pick: BNXN Taps Up Wande Coal For New Lead Single “Kenkele”

Our Song Of The Week!

Since changing his alias to a stylized version of his last name, BNXN’s increase in stature as an artist has been evident. He has come a long way since he generated a viral plea to Zlatan on Twitter for a feature on his breakout “Spiritual” in 2019, and has since left an indelible mark on the industry with his vivid songwriting sung through a slurry serenade.

His talent has seen him grace the O2 alongside Wizkid, collaborate with JAE5 and other artists like M Honcho, create hit records, and even extend his reach to the NFT market space with various versions of BNXN bobbleheads. BNXN has also been in the middle of recent social media spats involving Victony and Omah Lay, which has only helped to increase his viewership and the number of ears intrigued to listen to him. With a personality as erratic as his, nobody knows what BNXN will be up to next.

For his newest trick, he taps up Wande Coal to create “Kenkele”. WC has made a name for himself creating pure Afrobeats — and even Afroswing — records over the years, and he is at home on the song’s kicking beat. Wande’s vocals dovetail well with the record’s reverberating bounce. He delivers a minimalistic chorus in the most Wande Coal way ever, breathing life into simple lyrics through playful execution.

The result is a catchy record that deserves to be heard by thousands. In addition to the record’s chill vibe, BNXN and Wande Coal share strong synergy on “Kenkele”. BNXN’s verses do justice to the song as he carries out a performance characteristic of his recent rise. The chorus ties it all together though, and “Kenkele” is set to be the soundtrack of many drunken singalongs in Snapchat videos.
