TurnTable Charts Aggregates Streaming Services for Chart Data
Nigeria’s first official chart ranking has taken another step towards legitimacy.

Nigeria’s first official chart ranking, Turn Table Charts, has taken another step towards legitimacy. Up until the 30th of March, Turn Table Charts (TTC) only aggregated data from streaming services such as Boomplay and Audiomack. Moving forward, the chart organization will receive streaming data from three of the biggest streaming services in Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer. Considering that these streaming services cater to most of the acts out of Africa, the fact that their data has never counted towards their chart rankings anywhere in the world (until 2021) highlights the need for services suited to the African market specifically.
With the support of media partners such as; DAPPER, emPawa, The Plug, Ejoya, Chocolate City, Hulivo Digital and MAD Solutions, TTC’s access to streaming figures is bound to improve in accuracy and authenticity. Over the next three months, the chart service will launch three aggregate charts namely; Turntable Top 100 (Singles), Turntable Top 200 (Albums) and Turntable Top Artiste 100 (Artistes). The additional data will augment current data sources comprising sales, airplay and streaming. It will also improve the data points used for TTC's charts and provide better platform-specific analytics and reports.
TTC’s press release states: “together with our media partners, we will continue to amplify music culture in Nigeria.” Other collaborations with publications such as TTC x Pulse (publishing the three major charts), TTC x Zikoko (celebrating artists behind weekly number 1 songs) and TTC x Native (publishing of quarterly reports) will ensure the information is disseminated by trusted sources. Launched twenty months ago, TTC’s growth has been helmed by industry professionals such as founders Ayomide Oriowo and Adegoke Similoluwa, Bizzle Osikoya. The chart service currently operates six weekly charts; Top 50 Airplay Chart, Apple Music Top Songs, Top 50 Streaming Chart, TV Top Songs Chart, Digital Song Sales Chart and Top Triller Chart Nigeria.
